The harbour and the old town
Toulon Harbour remains the beating heart of the city: warships on one side, pleasure boats on the other, cafés lined along the quays. People happily meet here before diving into the old town, whose cobbled lanes open onto Place Puget and its mossy fountain. A perfect maze to wander together, pause for a drink and let conversation drift.
Rue d’Alger and Place de la Liberté
Rue d’Alger, pedestrianised and lively, links the lower town to the main shopping squares. Nearby, Toulon Opera, one of the largest in France, raises its sculpted façade close to Place de la Liberté. A show, a ballet or simply a coffee below: so many ways to stretch the evening and see whether a second date is already on the cards.
Rising above the city at Mont Faron
The cable car reaches the summit of Mont Faron in minutes, high above the roadstead. From up there, the view sweeps across the whole city, the islands and the Mediterranean. Few first outings can resist such a panorama. On Lyad, members from Toulon share their favourite spots and walking ideas; it is up to you to find someone to ride up with.
